At the time of writing, the Manually start, stop, and restart a MID Server docs state "If the MID Server is running, execute the restart.bat file.", suggesting this ought to work too, given that the stop.bat and start.bat files do work as expected. All it does is write a line containing "RESTART" to the ".container" file in the parent folder, above the agent folder. This presumably signals to the container to restart, and is not a signal to the MID Server service/application to restart.
